Epochs - time period divided into years

In Danish model trains, time is divided into epochs.

 

In summary, it looks like this;

Epoch Va - 1990-2001

The fixed connections across the Öresund and the Great Belt connect the railway network.

 

The electrification is underway but is gradually coming to a standstill.

Train sets are starting to dominate the traffic.

Highlights from the era Va

1990

DSB IC3 MFA-MFB is introduced, 92 train sets are built until 1998 and 4 slightly used ones are bought in Sweden. In total, DSB has 96 train sets at its disposal

50 4-axle Eao wagons are rented from AAE to DSB

1990

DDSF – De Danske Spritfabrikker A/S scraps its last ZE tankers, which had to carry ethyl alcohol

Kombidan Amba buys 25 DSB Sgmns. In 2001 they come to Railion. They will be decommissioned in 2004

The last DSB MX are set aside

Lollandsbanen (LJ) buys DSB MX 1043 and MX 1004. MX 1043 is leased to VLTJ in 2000-01 and in 2009 this is changed to RTOG M36. MX 1004 sold in 2006 for STAB MX 1004

Skagensbanen buys a "Marzipan bread" from Lollandsbanen

Dansk Sojakagefabrik A/S decommissions the last tank wagons, a large part disappeared in 1987. Likewise in 1975 they decommissioned a large number of ZE wagons

Skagensbanen buys MX 1041 from DSB and an additional OHJ MX 1038 in 1994. From 1991-1994, the freight volume increased from 1,600 trains to 72,000 tons of fishmeal in containers

DSB APO prototype express train is taken out of service and sold in 1995 to Iran

The Post and Telegraph Service from 1996 Post Danmark, buyer of DSB 14 wagons, Pbm and P. They are decommissioned in 1998

The E wagons begin to be converted to E wagons and are phased out around 1999

Skagensbanen acquires OHJ MX 1038 (M10) and a Köf III (SB T 52)

Dansk Ammoniakfabrik is decommissioning its last tankers for transporting ammonia water. They were based on the ZW wagons

Dansk Shell A/S is decommissioning its last tankers. A large part disappeared in 1989

The first DSB IR4 ER trains are put into regional operation, quickly switched to long-distance traffic

The last DSB MY are reserved, a large part has already been sold

MR are being modernized, the speed is increased to 130 km/h, they are painted white and red

Stora Papyrus Dalum A/S (Maglemølle Papirfabrik in Næstved) leases 59 DSB Hbis wagons. They will be decommissioned in 2001

Beginning liberalization of rail traffic. Only a few railway crossings left.

DSB Gods becomes Railion and later DB Schenker Rail, groupage transport is discontinued. DSB tractor "Köf", some DSB EA, all DSB EG, DSB Mziv and MK transfer to Railion. The last DSB MT and MH disappear

The ownership of Lille Nordbanen and the 5 former private railways is transferred to Hovedstadens Lokalbaner A/S (HL A/S)

Nordjyske Jernbaner (NJ) arises from a merger between Hjørring Privatbaner (HP) and Skagensbanen (SB). One buys OHJ MX 1009 (NJ M11)

DSB rents double-decker wagons letter B, Bk, and ABs

Nordjyske Jernbaner buys DSB MY 1146 (NJ M17)

DSB EA, DSB ME and some DSB ABns are foiled in blue

The Prague train stops when the schedule changes and ICE-TD takes over the run. However, it only runs to Berlin. Another ICE-TD departs from Copenhagen H and connects in Hamburg HBF

DSB ML Regionaltog is decommissioned and Lokalbanen A/S installs Lint train sets. ML will be dismantled in 2010

Epoch VI - 2008-

ERTMS is chosen as the signaling system of the future in Denmark.

 

Foreign companies really come into play when it comes to through freight traffic.

Some companies lose their licenses to drive in Denmark, which results in increased traffic from other companies.

The double-track extension between Vojens and Vamdrup in 2014/2015 means that freight trains are diverted via Esbjerg-Tønder-Niebüll. German Ludmilla is inserted between Germany and Esbjerg.

2008 - DSB IC4 MG put into operation between Copenhagen H and Aalborg as an express train
2008 - Nordjyske Jernbaner's YM, YP, MX's M9-11 (sold to Contec) and MY M17 (sold to CFL) are taken out of service
2008 - Hectorrail deploys the first BR241 in transit freight operations via DK
2009 - The last ABns are scrapped
2009 - Some DSB IR4 ER and all ET trainsets are transferred to DSBFirst

Railion Scandinavia A/S is renamed DB-Schenker Rail Scandinavia A/S

Regionstoget A/S is created by a merger between Vestsjællands Lokalbaner A/S, Østbanen A/S and Lollandsbanen. The company has marshalling tractors, 3 MX, 13 MF sets and 16 Lint sets

MK, MZ and Köf at DB-Schenker Rail Scandinavia A/S are fitted with DB keks

The first type EG at DB-Schenker Rail Scandinavia A/S are fitted a red foil in the DB look

5-9 August, TMZ1419 is deployed to haul Hectorrail freight trains and MY1134+MX1008 to haul TXL freight trains between Padborg and Kolding

August 5-9, all DB-Schenker freight trains CFL MY/MX, NEG MZIII and DB-MZiv are pulled between Padborg and Taulov/Fredericia

In September, BR232/233 Ludmilla will be deployed to run individual freight trains on the section Hamburg via Tønder to Esbjerg due to bridge work at Rendsborg. Freight trains are run Esbjerg-Fredericia by MZiv.
